Favorsky А.Е., (1860-1945), chemist


FAVORSKY Alexey Evgrafovich (1860-1945), chemist, member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1929), Hero of Socialist Labour (1945). He graduated from the department of natural science of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of St. Petersburg University in 1882 and remained to work at the same institution. In 1896, he was promoted to professor.

State Institute of Technology, St. Petersburg


STATE INSTITUTE (UNIVERSITY) OF TECHNOLOGY, St. Petersburg (26 Moskovsky Avenue) was founded in 1828 under the name of the Petersburg Practical Technology Institute. In 1896 it was renamed the Technological Institute; and in 1924 it was renamed yet again to be Lensoviet. In 1930, the institute incorporated the Polytechnic Institute and Leningrad State University chemistry faculties. The institute received its present-day name in 1992.
