SULTANOV NIKOLAY VLADIMIROVICH (1850, St. Petersburg- 1908), an architect, a restorer, a historian of architecture, Academician of Architecture (1893), a representative of so-called Russian style. Graduated from Construction School with as a civil engineer (1873), served on the Technical Construction Committee (from 1903 - its chairman). Concurrently, from 1873, taught the history of architecture in the Institute of Civil Engineers (since 1896 – Professor; in 1895-1903, its director) and Technological Institute, lectured on the history of art in the Archaeological Institute. Published Works on the history of Russian architecture in the journal Architect and other publications. Translated into Russian the book of the French theorist and historian of the architecture E. Viollet-le-Duc L'Art Russe (1879), published a number of folios on the history of architecture. Visited a lot of ancient Russian towns, studied and restored monuments of Russian architecture. In 1874-77 he assisted architect А.K. Serebryakov in the construction of the Houses of Muruzi and Count S.D. Sheremetev (51 Liteiny Avenue). Decorated churches in the Palace of Grand Prince Pavel Alexandrovich (1889-1890, not preserved) and Women's Pedagogical Institute (1906, not preserved) in the style of the 17th century. His main work is the court SS. Peter&Paul Cathedral in Peterhof (1894-1905), designed to the forms of the 16th-17th centuries Moscow architecture. Died and was buried in Wiesbaden (Germany).
