UNIVERSITY OF LOW-TEMPERATURE AND FOOD TECHNOLOGY, St. Petersburg State University of Low-Temperature and Food Technology situated at 9 Lomonosova Street. Was founded in 1931 as the Leningrad Institute of the Refrigeration Industry renamed the St. Petersburg State Academy of Cooling and Food Technology in 1994-99 until it received its present-day name in 2000. The university provides training for professionals in cryogenic techniques, equipment for meat, fish, and dairy industries, commerce and catering, production and foreign trade planning and management. There were the following departments in 2002: refrigeration engineering, food production engineering, food technology, cryogenic technology and conditioning, economics and management, correspondence and external studies. The university is situated in the former Commercial School built by architect M. A. Makarov in 1869-71.
