ARCHITECTURAL-CONSTRUCTION UNIVERSITY, St. Petersburg State, located at 4 Second Krasnoarmeiskaya Street, was established in 1832 as the College for Civil Engineering. It was renamed the Institute for Civil Engineering in 1882. It was called the Leningrad Institute for Engineers of Communal Economy in 1930, before being renamed the Engineering-Construction Institute in 1941. It received its present-day name in 1994. It is the oldest construction institute of higher education in the country. Outstanding scientists, architects and artists taught at the university: N. A. Belelyubsky, V. A. Gastev, A. I. Gogen, G. L. Grimm and D. I. Grimm, E. H. Lenz, K. E. Makovsky, M. G. Manizer, V. V. Skobeltsyn, P. Y. Suzor, V. A. Schreter et al. Such outstanding architects as G. V. Baranovsky, A. F. Bubyr, N. V. Vasilyev, A. A. Vesnin and V. A. Vesnin, A. I. Gegello, A. I. Dmitriev, L. A. Ilyin, V. A. Kosyakov (see the Kosyakov family), S. S. Krichinsky, A. S. Nikolsky, A. A. Ol, M. M. Peretyatkovich et al. graduated from the university. The St. Petersburg State Architectural-Construction University consisted of four institutes in 2002: the Architectural Institute, the Construction Institute, the Institute of Ecological Engineering Systems, and the Automobile Road Institute. The university includes the following faculties: the Faculty of Economics and Management; the Faculty of Ongoing Education, the Faculty of Military Education, the Faculty for Upskilling and Retraining of Specialists.
