STATE INSPECTORATE (1811-1917), the central establishment for financial control in the Russian Empire (preceded by the Main Directorate for the Auditing of State Invoices, which existed until 1836 and was headed by the State Inspector). According to the Regulations of 1892, the State Inspectorate consisted of the Council, the Office, four Departments (Civil Department, Military and Naval Department, Railway Department, and Department of Crediting Reporting), an Acting Audit Commission, and the Central Accounts Office. At various times, a number of temporary Commissions and Committees were attached to the State Inspectorate. The State Inspectorate's various Departments were accommodated at 66, 76, 78 Moika River Embankment. The establishment was abolished after October 1917.

PUSHKAREV Ivan Ilyich (1803-1848, St. Petersburg), historian, statistician, regional ethnographer. Graduated from the Gymnasium in Simbirsk. Lived in St. Petersburg from 1834. Pushkarev served as a clerk at the Main Engineers College
