Categories / City Topography/Green Areas/Parks

SOSNOVAYA POLYANA is a park in the south-west of St. Petersburg between Veteranov Avenue and Narodnogo Opolcheniya Avenue. To the west is Sosnovka District. The total area is 58 hectares. The park was laid out in 1968. It is located on a flat loam terrace, formerly waterlogged but has been drained and reclaimed. The park is almost completely covered with forest. Pine prevailed here before, hence the name of the park, which means piny. The present-day trees are mostly hardwood (birches and aspens), with the participation of pine and plentiful undergrowth of mountain ash. A series of crushed rock roads have been formed, benches have been installed in the park.
