GORSKAYA, locality in the southern part of Sestroretsk, east of Primorskoe Freeway. The territory incorporates a railway station of the same name within the railway line linking St. Petersburg and Sestroretsk and a summer settlement. During the siege of 1941-44 much significance was attached to the road which ran through Gorskaya as far as Levashovo railway station (present-day Gorskoe Freeway). In the winter of 1943-44 a motor route was laid on the ice; it started from the area of Gorskaya and was used for supplying ammunition and transporting troops to Oranienbaumsky bridgehead. Two kilometres east of Gorskaya, there was the "Gorskaya" military aerodrome. Starting from the 1970s, the territory of Gorskaya was the site for the building of a complex of protective works against floods. In 2001, the first line of a ringway was put into operation at the section between Gorskaya and Pargolovo.
