RATKOV-ROZHNOV FAMILY, a noble family, state officials, entrepreneurs and houseowners. Close ties to St. Petersburg were kept by V. A. Ratkov-Rozhnov and Alexander Nikolaevich Ratkov-Rozhnov (about 1859-?) who graduated from St. Petersburg University with a major in physics and mathematics and served in the Ministry of Finance from 1881. He was Vice Director and Director of the Railway Department in 1892-1902 and member of the board of St.Petersburg Rosenkranz Plant, a number of enterprises and two rail carriers, as well as the chairman of the boards in Krovlya Syndicate from 1907 and Med Syndicate from 1909. He also took part in an intradepartmental meeting to discuss the status of metallurgy and engineering in Russia in 1908. He was a member of the Council of Congresses of Urals Miners and served as chairman of the council from 1908. V. A. Ratkov-Rozhnov's son Yakov Vladimirovich Ratkov-Rozhnov (1870-?) was a chamberlain and Actual Civil Counsellor who served in the Ministry of Finance. He was a member of the Board in Volzhsko-Kamsky Bank and director of Samolet Steamboat Company. His brother Anany Vladimirovich Ratkov-Rozhnov (1872-?) was chamberlain, Actual Civil Counsellor, and Marshal of the Nobility in Tsarskoselsky District, and member of the boards in St. Petersburg Private Commercial Bank, Rosenkranz Plant, and a railway company. The Ratkov-Rozhnov family owned over 30 apartment houses and mansions in St. Petersburg, the most famous of them including A. V. Ratkov-Rozhnov's house at 32-34 Kirochnaya Street (1899-1900) and Y. V. Ratkov-Rozhnov's house at present-day 13-15 Pestelya Street (1898-1900). Both houses were built by architect P. Y. Suzor.
