KRASOVSKY Alexander Fedorovich (1848-1918), architect. In 1865-70, he studied at the architectural department of Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1871-72, he went on to study at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts; he was elected a Fellow of the Academy in 1885. He held a post at the Palace Administration (1891-1898; architect of the Winter Palace from 1893). He drew the plans for the decoration of the apartments of the heir to the throne in the Winter Palace (1894). He also built the second house for the Low-Cost Accommodation Society for the Poor in Tarasov Lane (now 5 Egorova Street, 1882-1883), as well as the building of the male hospital for Holy Trinity Nurses' Community (3 Degtyarnaya Street, 1882-1884), the buildings for Higher Womens' Courses (Bestuzhev Course) at 31, 33, 35 Tenth Line of Vasilievsky Island (1884-1900), the church at Preobrazhenskoe Cemetery attached to the Porcelain Factory (1902-1912, not preserved), residential-houses for Empress Maria's Establishments Department (6 Smolny Lane; 12 Kavalergardskaya Street; 15 Tavricheskaya Street; 1901-1906), the mansion (28 Angliiskaya Embankment, 1889-90s) and apartment houses of Baron P.P. von Derviz (40 Moika River Embankment / 27 Bolshaya Konyushennaya Street, 1892-1898), as well as a number of apartment houses for other private owners. The latter buildings were mainly decorated in the spirit of Florentine Renaissance, and involved the use of various forms of the style modified after the fashion of late eclecticism.
