LOPUKHIN Alexander Pavlovich (1852-1904, St. Petersburg), church historian, M.A. (theology) in 1881. After graduating from Petersburg Theological Academy in 1878, he worked as a psalm reader at the Russian Embassy Church in New York in 1879-81. On his return to St. Petersburg, he worked at Petersburg Theological Academy heading the chair of comparative theology in 1883-85 and the chair of ancient secular history in 1885-1904. He was the editor of Tserkovny Vestnik and Khristianskoe Chtenie in 1893-1903 and the editor and publisher of Strannik and its supplements - Orthodox Theology Encyclopaedia and Explanatory Bible - in 1899-1904. He wrote works on clerical and secular history and Holy Writ. He lived at 182 Nevsky Prospect. Buried at Nikolskoe Cemetery of Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
