Palmov I.S. (1855-1920), church historian

PALMOV Ivan Savvich (1855-1920, Petrograd), church historian, specialist in Slavic history, Doctor of Church History (1904), a member of Russian Academy of Sciences (1916; corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences from 1913). He graduated from St. Petersburg Theological Academy in 1880, and in 1884-1918 chaired the Department of History of Slavonic Churches at the Academy. He was a member of the Council from 1889 and chairman of the Publishing Committee of the Slavonic Charitable Foundation. Palmov wrote nearly 30 works on the history of West Slavonic churches and spiritual education. He lived at 182 Nevsky Prospect. Palmov was buried in Nikolskoe Cemetery of Alexander Nevsky Lavra (the grave has not been preserved).
