EASTER CAKE, located at 235 Obukhovskoy Oborony Avenue, common name for the Holy Trinity Church (after the peculiar shape of the rotunda church with a pyramid belfry), built in 1785-90 in the style of High Classicism by architect N. A. Lvov. The construction was commissioned by General Public Prosecutor Prince A. A. Vyazemsky in Alexander village. The facade is adorned with Ionian columns, the interior is decorated with Corinthian pilasters. The blue and gold iconostasis was brought from the Holy Annunciation Church on Vasilievsky Island. In 1857-59, a vestibule, sacristy and a fence were constructed. On the local cemetery there stood the Holy Assumption Church. From 1871, an almshouse and a school functioned there, and was transformed into a Children’s Union, for children 6 to 14 years of age. In 1938, the church was closed, its premises served as a club; in 1946, church services resumed.
