PACNHENKO Alexander Mikhailovich (1937, Leningrad - 2002, St. Petersburg), historian specialised in Russian literature and culture, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1991, Professor in 1980. A member of the Union of Writers from 1980. After graduating from Charles University in Prague in 1958, he worked at the Institute of Russian Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, renamed as the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1991.

Works: Russian Poetical Culture written in 1973, Laughing World of Old Rus written together with D. S. Likhachev in 1976, Russian Culture on the Eve of Peter the Great's Reforms written in 1984, etc. He anchored a television series on Russian history and culture. He was awarded a State Prize of the Russian Federation in 1995. He lived at 8 Gavrskaya Street. Buried at Nikolskoe Cemetery of Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
