PIMENOV Revolt Ivanovich (1931-1990), political scientist, human rights activist, Ph.D. (Doctor of Mathematics) (1969). Lived in Leningrad since 1948 (42 Voinova Street, today Shpalernaya Street). Graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Leningrad State University in 1955. In 1957, he was convicted of establishing an underground group and illegal publishing of Informatsiya bulletin and sentenced to ten years of camps. In 1963, he was released on parole, and worked in the Leningrad Branch of Mathematical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In the late 1960s, he got acquainted with Academy member A.D. Sakharov and joined the human rights movement. In 1970, he was sentenced to five years of exile for distribution of underground press (serving his time in Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic). Later, lived in Syktyvkar, frequented Leningrad, continued taking part in Leningrad underground press publishing. He authored works on mathematics, and the book entitled “The Origin of Power” (published in 1996), devoted to the evolution of Russian society and memoirs, A Political Trial (published in 1979). In 1989, took part in the creation of Memorial Society. In 1990, Pimenov was elected People's Deputy of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, and worked on the project of the new constitution of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. Died in Berlin, buried at Serafimovskoe Cemetery.
