Categories / City Administration/Administrative-territorial Division

POLICE STATIONS, administrative police units. They were created in the course of the police reform of1866-67 instead of police blocks. The territory of St. Petersburg was divided into 38 police stations (plus another four suburban units) preserving the former 12 police departments. Block supervisors were renamed station police officers, administrations of blocks were transformed into administrations of police stations. Police stations were divided into 93 sections, sections were divided into posts (705 in number). In 1903 there was the 39th police station, Alexandrovsky police station, separated from Schliesselburgsky police station.
