PUBLIC SAFETY VOLUNTEER UNITS, arranged with the purpose of helping militia. Workers' units attached to industrial factories in the period of the Revolution of 1905-07 were a prototype of Public Safety Volunteer Units. At the time of the February revolution of 1917 workers' militia appeared which existed along with people's militia of the Provisional Government. At the beginning of the 1960s Public Safety Volunteer Units were comprised of students, senior schoolboys, workers of factories etc., helping maintain order in the streets. Members of Public Safety Volunteer Units wearing special breastplates were called for prevent of violations of public peace, delivering infringers to militia stations. Public Safety Volunteer Units existed through the end of the 1970s.
