TATISHCHEV Alexey Danilovich (1697-1760, St. Petersburg), statesman, general en shef (1757). Since 1712 he had been in the military service, took part in the Great Northern war of 1700-21, since 1718 a batman of tsar Peter the Great, since 1725 he had been in waiting, organised a jester wedding in the Ice House (1740). In 1745-60 St. Petersburg Chief of Police General (with rights of the direct access to the empress, bypassing Senate and Privy Office). During his administration in St. Petersburg, the urban construction had livened up (inter alia, with the help of the administrative pressure on landowners); Naval Cadet Corps School (1752), the Academy of Arts (1757) were instituted, the 1st obstetrical school in Russia was opened (1757), etc. He was buried at Lazarevskoe Cemetery of Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
