PRAVDA (The Truth), a daily legal Bolshevik newspaper, was in operation from April 1912 until July 1914 and from March 1917, on account of censorship it repeatedly changed its name. The circulation fluctuated from 20,000 to a high of 100,000 copies. With Lenin as the ideological leader (published in the Pravda about 480 articles), the paper published contributions of М. I. Kalinin, N. V. Krylenko, V. M. Molotov, M. S. Olminsky, N. I. Podvoysky, F. F. Raskolnikov, Y. M. Sverdlov, I. V. Stalin et al., the conceptual orientation of the literary section to a greater extent was determined by Maxim Gorky and Demyan Bedny. The editorial board had its seat at 37 Nikolaevskaya (today Marata) Street (memorial plaque), 32 Moika River Embankment (memorial plaque; in 1984-91 the V. I. Lenin and the Pravda museum operated there, today it houses the St. Petersburg Press History Museum). The newspaper was printed in the Khudozhestvennaya Pechat printing works (Ivanovskaya, now 14 Sotsialisticheskaya Street, memorial plaque; today the Pravda printing-house), the Trud (40 Kavalergardskaya Street, memorial plaque) printing-house. Since March 1918 the paper has been published in Moscow. The paper gave its name to a street (Pravda Street, until 1923 Kabinetskaya Street).
