BULLA Karl Karlovich (1853-1929), photographer. Lived in St. Petersburg from 1862, worked as a lab assistant for Dunant Company. He opened his own photo studio in 1875, whose final location from 1908 on was 1/54 Nevsky Prospect. A photographer of the Imperial Court Ministry from 1896 and a news photographer of Novoye Vremya newspaper from 1908, he took pictures of Emperor Nicholas II and members of the imperial family in 1896-1916, manoeuvres of the Russian Army in 1896-1906, revolutionary events in 1906, as well as architectural landscapes of St. Petersburg, Petrodvorets, and Kronstadt, interiors of state and public institutions, and remarkable scenes of city life. He photographed portraits of statesmen, scientists, artists, sportsmen, and politicians. He moved to Estonia in 1916. He served as a model for sculptor B. A. Petrov's Photographer, erected at Malaya Sadovaya Street in 2001.
