SINAISKY Viktor Alexandrovich (1893-1968, Leningrad), sculptor. Studied at the Academy of Arts under V.A. Beklemishev and G.R. Zaleman (1917-20), and A.T. Matveev (1921-22), where he taught on an off between 1921 and 1951, M.K. Anikushin being among his pupils. Also taught at the Leningrad High Art and Industrial School (1951-65). He made a bust of F. Laasal (gypsum, installed in 1918 at Nevsky Prospect, not preserved; granite variant, 1921, the State Russian Museum) in accordance with the Monument Propaganda Plan. He created bust-monuments to V.K. Rontgen (bronze, 1927-28, Rontgen Street) and F.I. Shubin (bronze, 1959, the Mikhailovsky Garden), a full monument to N.A. Dobrolyubov (bronze, granite, 1959, Bolshoy Avenue on Petrogradskaya Side), several mounted works, including the statues Osoaviakhimovets (1932) and Young Worker (1937), both at the State Tretyakov Gallery, and various monument-decorative reliefs. Sinaisky's plastics are characterised by their Classical clarity of composition and harmony of accomplished forms. He was buried at Bolsheokhtinskoe Cemetery.
