KOGAN Pavel Simonovich (1931, Leningrad - 1998, St. Petersburg), film director and documentarian, Honoured Worker of Arts of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic in 1980. He graduated from Leningrad State University in 1956 and the State Institute of Theatre Arts in 1964. He worked at the Studio of Documentary Films from 1959. In directing his films, Kogan applied the motion-picture observation method and detailed psychological profile. He became renowned for Look at the Face, shot in 1966 and awarded a prize at the International Film Festival in Leipzig. Among other films were Day after Day of 1967, Military Music Orchestra of 1968, shot in collaboration with P. Mostovoy and awarded a prize at the International Film Festival in Leipzig, Flight of 1972, Secret Order of 1981, A Is for Apple of 1982, and Summer Is Coming of 1987, as well as a television film, House Being Built, shot in collaboration with Mostovoy in 1978. He lived at 22 Korablestroiteley Street. Buried at Komarovskoe Cemetery.
