ANDREEVA-DELMAS Lyubov Alexandrovna (nee Tishchinskaya; appeared under the stage name of Delmas, married name Andreeva) (1884-1969, Leningrad), opera singer (mezzo-soprano), chamber singer, and teacher. Studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory from 1898 to 1905 majoring in voice under N.A. Iretskaya. Her stage debut took place in 1905 at the St. Petersburg New Opera directed by A.A. Tsereteli. From 1907 to 1909 she was on tour in various cities and towns throughout Russia. In 1910-11, she acted at the St. Petersburg People's House Theater directed by N.N. Figner. She took part in the Saisons Russes in Monte Carlo and Paris (during the seasons of 1911/12 and 1913/14, respectively), until she was invited by F.I. Chaliapin to be his stage partner, singing the part of Marina Mnishek in Boris Godunov. From 1913 to 1919 she was a soloist at the Theatre of Musical Drama under the direction of I.M. Lapitsky. In 1914, A.A. Blok saw her appear there as Carmen, dedicated a cycle of poems entitled Carmen to Andreeva-Delmas, never missed any of her performances (as noted in his correspondence of 1914-20, which was preserved). In 1919-1922 she acted at the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. From 1932 to 1951 Andreeva-Delmas taught at the Music School of the Leningrad Conservatory, later joining the Conservatory's teaching staff (becoming senior lecturer in 1938). She was buried at Krasnenkoe Cemetery.
