Samoylov Memorial Museum Apartment

SAMOYLOV MEMORIAL MUSEUM APARTMENT (8 Stremyannaya Street) is a branch of the Museum of Theatre and Music Art. It was opened in 1994. The museum is dedicated to the history of the actor dynasty of the Samoylovs. Thirteen members of this family were theatre workers. The museum is located in the house which had earlier belonged to actor V. V. Samoylov (memorial plaque). The exposition contains Samoylov’s personal articles, things which belonged to members of his family and fellow actors, theatre sketches and pieces of painting by V. V. Samoylov and P. V. Samoylov. Theatre costumes, portraits, and photos, illustrating the theatre life of St. Petersburg of the 19th century are on display. The museum also presents an exhibition dedicated to history of Russian ballet. The museum holds regular music and literary soirees.
