The summer. Maksim Gorky arrived to Detskoye Selo for resting, he occupied several rooms in the merchant Skorospekhov's house in Proletarskya Street. The memorial room was opened there on 18 June 1941 and the memorial plaque was set. The house was not preserved.

Modernization of the Tsarskoye Selo broadcasting station was made; it was equipped with the 100 kilowatt arc transmitter designed by A.A. Chernyshev, four additional masts were installed. The broadcasting station was named after V.N. Podbelsky, People's Commissar of Post and Telegraph Office.

Fields at the outskirts of Tsarskoye Selo, buildings of the Cossack barracks, Farm pavilion and Fiodorovsky Town were given for the educational aims of the Petrograd Agricultural Institute. In 1922 the soil scientist K.D. Glinka, a member of the Academy, became the Head of the institute, 2578 students learned at three departments of the institute in 1923.
