8 December. The Museum of the Leningrad Agricultural Institute History was founded. Vladimir Nikolayevich Smirnov, a son of N.I. Smirnov, the last senior priest of the Cathedral of St. Catherine since 1916, was appointed the first director of the museum. V.N. Cmirnov was working at the museum untill his death in 1990. V.N. Smirnov, a native of Tsarskoye Selo, was of the most brilliant local historians of Pushkin Town of the post-war period.

The Cinema "Ruslan" for the audience of 1200 was built. The cinema foyer was decorated with the decorative wall-painting based on the plots of A.Pushkin's tales, that was made by a team of masters of Palekh under leading the State Prize laureates A.A. Kozhukhina and T.I. Zubkova (the wall-painting was destroyed during the reconstruction in 2009).

The Leningrad Agricultural Institute was awarded the Order of Labour Red Banner for the success in personnel training, development and application of the science research to agricultural production.
