LIGHTS was a joint-stock publishing company. It was founded in 1909 by critic and publicist E. A. Lyatsky. It was situated at 80 Fontanka Embankment. The editorial board included B. L. Modzalevsky, V. I. Sreznevsky, P. E. Shchegolev. Publishing of books started in 1911. It published works by Russian and foreign writers, diaries and memoirs, collections of folk literature, works about art (with the participation of artists A. N. Benois, I. Y. Bilibin, D. I. Mitrokhin), theatre, teaching, the literary-artistic collections Lights (volumes 1-11, 1916-17), the journal Argus, the series Circle of Knowledge. Collected works of Alexander Pushkin, N. G. Chernyshevsky et al., archives of Prince S. G. Volkonsky, Notes by N. V. Basargin, Essays about Literature and Public Life under Alexander I by A. N. Pypin etc. are among the publications. It ceased its activities in 1922.
