DEMENTYEV BROTHERS, football players. Peter Timofeevich Dementyev (nicknamed Peka) (1913, St. Petersburg - 1998), Merited Master of Sports (1946), right midfielder. From 1926 he played for the team of Khalturin Factory, in 1932-39 and 1949-52 - for Dinamo (Leningrad), from 1941 - for Zenit (Leningrad), in 1944-46 - for Krylya Sovetov (Moscow), in 1947-48 - for Dinamo (Kiev). In USSR championships he played in 207 matches, scored 22 goals; played 6 unofficial matches for the USSR national team. Together with M.P. Butusov (see Butusov Brothers) he was the driving force of the USSR national team and Dinamo Leningrad team. He was the champion of the USSR in field hockey (1935). He graduated from Lesgaft Institute of Physical Education (1951). He is the character of L.A. Kassil's story "Peka's Boots". From 1979 he lived in Moscow. He is the author of the book "Peka on Himself, or Football Begins in the Childhood" (Moscow, 1995). In 2002, Dementyev’s Memorial was opened on Petrovsky Stadium (initially made in the beginning of the 1950s by an unknown sculptor, restored by sculptor V.V. Olenev). Nikolay Timofeevich Dementyev (1915-1994), Merited Master of Sports (1947), midfielder. From 1929 he played for the team of Khalturin Factory, in 1934-39 for Dinamo (Leningrad), in 1940-45 - for Dinamo (Moscow), in 1946-54 - for Spartak (Moscow). He was the champion of the USSR (1940, 1952 and 1953), the USSR Cup winner (1946, 1947, 1950), and participated in the legendary match of Dinamo (Moscow) played in Great Britain in 1945. He played 5 unofficial matches (1952) for the USSR National Team. One of the best USSR forwards of the late 1940s – early 1950s.
