UNIVERSITY OF AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGY, St. Petersburg State, located at 67 Bolshaya Morskaya Street. Was established in 1941 as the Leningrad Aviation Institute. It was renamed the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Technology in 1945. In 1992, it became the St. Petersburg Academy of Aerospace Technology. It received its present-day name in 1997. In 1986, the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Technology was included in the list of the leading institutes of higher education in the USSR. Outstanding scientists, heads of enterprises and public figures were among graduates of the University of Aerospace Technology. In 2000, the University of Aerospace Technology consisted of the following faculties: the Faculty of Aerospace Instruments and Systems, the Faculty of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Communication; the Faculty of Information Systems and Management; the Faculty of Computation and Radio-Electronic Systems; the Faculty of Economics and Management; the Faculty of Law; the Faculty of Distance Education; the Faculty of Additional Education. The University of Aerospace Technology is the biggest centre for the development of the latest scientific discoveries, new technologies and the training of engineers, economists and lawyers. The university actively works alongside other scientific and educational centres around the world. The university is housed in the former officers' wing of the Cavalry Lifeguards Regiment (1848-50, architect I. D. Chernik) and in the Chesme Palace.
