Categories / City Topography/Green Areas/Forest Parks

RZHEVSKY FOREST PARK is located in the Eastern outskirts of St. Petersburg, on the boundary of the district of large scale residential developments in Rzhevka-Porokhovye and Vsevolozhsky District of Leningrad Region. The city part of the forest park is limited by Ryabovskoe Highway, Lesoparkovaya Street and Kommuny Street. The forest park stretches up to the village Yanino-1 and Novoe Kovalevo in the east. The total area of Rzhevsky Forest Park is approximately 500 hectares. The forest park is located on the location of natural forests in the basin of the former tributaries of the Okhta River - Lapka River (Zhernovka) and Karaulov Stream. The river channels and retaining ponds have survived. The territory has been reclaimed and is partly swamped. The terrotory is included in the water protection zone. Firs and pines with a few hardwoods - birches, aspens and willows dominate among the trees. Rzhevsky Forest Park is split by a series of openings and glades. Some of the openings are used for traffic. The branch line from Vsevolozhsk to Utkina creek goes through the territory of Rzhevsky Forest Park.
