LAVRSKY BRIDGES, two bridges over the Monastyrka River. Received their names from the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. The First Lavrsky Bridge is located in alignment with the main entrance to the Lavra. From 1712, there used to be a floating bridge, from 1718, a hoist one. In the 1830s a timber single span arched bridge on brick abutments was built. In 1924 the arches were replaced with wooden, and in 1949 - with metal beams. The present bridge was built in 1970-72 (engineers А.I. Rubashev, А.D. Gutzeit, architect L.А. Noskov), with reinforced concrete decks, the girder is decorated on the sides with prefabricated arches with granite facings. Length 18 metres, width 9.5 metres. The Second Lavrsky Bridge is located at the Lavra entrance from the Lavrsky Lane. In the mid-18th century a timber girder bridge was built here; in the 1830s, a timber single span arched bridge on brick abutments. In 1980-81, the bridge was reconstructed, the piers were reinforced and the wooden frame was replaced with similar segments from glued woodblocks (engineers B.E. Dvorkin, Z.G. Vasilyeva, architect V.М. Ivanov). Length: 35.8 metres, width: 9.5 metres.
