Chat Noir, Cabaret

CHAT NOIR (from the French сhat noir - black cat), cabaret (126 Nevsky Prospect; the building was erected in 1883 as a Tenement apartment, architect G. I. Karpov). It was opened on 7 December, 1918 and existed for about 2 months having given several comic sketches and variety shows. In February 1919, the cabaret housed the club for Red Army men. Today the ground floor houses the cafe Cat's Home.
