DENISOV Yury Mikhailovich (1925, Leningrad - 2001, St. Petersburg), art historian. Graduated from the Faculty of Art Theory and Art History of the I. E. Repin Institute (1950). A research assistant at the State Inspection for the Protection of Architectural Monuments in 1950-54. Later, in charge of the Department of Exhibitions at the Museum of the Academy of Arts. Worked at the publishing house Stroyizdat from 1958. Together with A. N. Petrov, he published the book The Architect Rastrelli: Materials for Studying Creative Work (Leningrad, 1963). In 1962-85, he taught art history at the Faculty of History of the Leningrad State University. He was a member of the research council of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural and Historical Monuments in 1990-98; a member of the Town-Planning Council of the Committee for Town-Planning and Architecture; a member of the Presidium of the Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments; a member of the Union of Russian Architects; and a chief adviser on palaces at the Russian Museum. He lived at 4 Rontgen Street, and was buried in the Severnoe Cemetery.
