OBOLENSKY Alexander Nikolaevich (1874, St. Petersburg - 1924), prince, statesman, Major-General (1914). He was educated in Page Corps school, in 1891-1906 served in Preobrazhensky Life Guards Regiment. In 1908-10, vice-governor of Kostroma, in 1910-14 governor of Ryazan, in 1914-16 chief of Petrograd administration; occupied a state apartment (6 Admiralteysky Avenue). He was dismissed due to empress Alexandra Fedorovna and the Minister of Internal Affairs A.D. Protopopov's dislike; subsequently he was appointed infantry brigadier. Since 1918 he had lived abroad as an emigrant, died in Paris.
