MILITIA HISTORY MUSEUM of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region situated at 12 Poltavskaya Street. Founded in 1976, it received its present-day name in 1991. There were about 30,000 items stored in its collection in 2003. The collection is based on the original documents of the first Petrograd militia leaders. There are five halls displaying materials on the history of criminal investigation and military dog breeding, as well as the activities of Leningrad militia during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45.
