OLGINO, a summer cottage village 15 kilometres northwest of Saint Petersburg, on the northern coast of the Gulf of Finland, in the vicinity of a cognominal railway platform. It neighbours Lisy Nos and Severo-Primorsky forest park on the west, and Lake Lakhta on the east. In the first half of the 18th century, the territory was part of the Verpelev Palace Estate, which was granted to Count G. G. Orlov in the second half of the 18th century, and later came into the possession of counts Stenbock-Fermor. In the early 20th century, a summer cottage village sprang up, which was named Olgino in 1905 (after count A.V. Stenbock-Fermor's wife Olga). About 150 winter cottages, many of which represent outstanding "cottage" architecture, were built in the 1910s, including ones at 16 Khvoynaya Street (architect S. F. Woldt), 113 Lakhtinsky Avenue (architect S. O. Ovsyannikov), 19-21 Lesnaya Street (architect А. P. Vaitens, awarded the Grand Prix at the Dresden Industrial Exhibition in 1905), 31 Kolodeznaya Street (architect L.P. Shishko), and a number of others. In 1963, Olgino was incorporated into the city's boundaries. There is a cognominal hotel in the area (1980, architects V. S. Maslov, V. N. Berezkina, М. Y. Svirin, V. N. Skorokhodov).
