Primorsky Avenue

PRIMORSKY AVENUE, between Akademika Krylova Street and Savushkina Street, goes along the right bank of the Neva River, through Staraya Derevnya and Novaya Derevnya to Lake Lakhtinsky Razliv, extends Ushakovskaya Embankment. In the early 19th century, it was called the road from Sistrebek (Sestroretsk); later, Novoderevenskaya Embankment, Naberezhnaya Street and Staroderevenskaya Street (formerly Blagoveshchenskaya Street) were attached to the road. The modern name dates back to 1947. Primorsky Avenue was mainly developed in the 1950s-60s. Primorsky Avenue features a plant of insulating materials (building 46), Scientific Research Institute for Energy Technology (building 82), Holy Annunciation Church (building 79, 1764-65, 1805-08, reconstructed in 1805-08 by architect V.O. Mochulsky), the former summer residence of the Saltykov family (building 3, 1830-40s), the former summer residence of Shishmarev (building 87, 1824-25, architect A.I. Melnikov), and the Buddhist Temple (building 91).
