ALL-RUSSIAN PUSHKIN MUSEUM of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation (12 Moika RiverEmbankment) was established in 1953 on the basis of the All-Russian Pushkin Exhibition of 1937 opened in Moscow in the halls of the History Museum in celebration of the poet's centennial birthday, showing materials of Pushkin House and of other museums, archives, and libraries of the country. The exhibition was opened in Alexander Palace in the town of Pushkin in 1949. Later the exhibition was transferred to 17 halls of the Winter Palace. The main museum exposition was opened in 27 halls of the Church Wing of Catherine's Palace of the town of Pushkin in 1967-88. The new literary exposition entitled A. S. Pushkin: Life and Work was opened in 1999 in 18 halls on the first and the second floors of the house at 12 Moika River Embankment. Pushkin Museum is the largest depository of memorabilia, books and works of art related to Pushkin. The collection of the museum contains over 200,000 objects. A unique collection of portraits of the poet and his contemporaries, works of applied art, and unique publications are among the exhibits. The museum has the following branches: Pushkin Memorial Apartment Museum, Pushkin Museum Dacha, the Lyceum Museum, Nekrasov Memorial Apartment Museum, and Derzhavin Museum. The following museums were established on the initiative of the All-Russian Pushkin Museum and on the basis of its materials in Gatchinsky District of Leningrad Region: the House of the Postmaster in the village of Vyra, and the Museum House of Pushkin’s nanny in the village of Kobrino. A cinema and lecture room for 180 seats was opened at the museum in the former stables. Biron's Stable Meetings of Literature Fans are held here monthly.

PUSHKIN DACHA MUSEUM (Pushkin Town, 2 Pushkinskaya Street) is a branch of the All-Russian Pushkin Museum. It was established in 1958 in the one-storied wooden building, which had earlier belonged to Court Valet Y
